If you misplaced the owner's manual for your Mac, model 3216, gasoline-powered chainsaw, then you may be at a loss about how to start the machine. Although often known simply as 'Mac' chainsaws, their brand name actually is 'McCulloch.' Starting the Mac 3216 chainsaw is a fairly standard procedure, though it involves setting the choke to different positions.
1
Set the Mac model 3216, gas-powered chainsaw on a stable surface, such as the ground or a sturdy table. Push the chainsaw's 'Stop' button upward to put it into the 'On' position.
2
Move the choke knob to the 'Choke' position. That position is represented by a horizontal line.
3
Depress the primer button 10 times slowly. Pressing the button allows ample fuel to enter the carburetor.
4
Locate the throttle latch near the top of the handle and the throttle trigger on the handle's underside. Depress the latch as you hold the throttle trigger. Release the trigger, and release the latch.
5
Place your left hand around the chainsaw's handle, and press it down to hold the machine securely in place. Pull the starter cable four times fast with your right hand.
6
Move the choke knob to the 'Half Choke' position, represented by a diagonal line. The line resembles clock hands pointing to roughly 1 and 7 or 2 and 8 o'clock.
7
Hold the chainsaw's handle firmly with your left hand as you pull upward on the starter cable with your right hand four times. The engine should start.
8
Move the choke knob to the 'Run' position. That position is represented by a vertical line.
