To do this you can take a CAT5e cable direct from the computer to the X32 (older computers may require a CAT5e Crossover cable. I have been able to connect with a normal cable with my MacBook Pro and MacBook Air). You would need to manually set the IP address inside of your Mac, Windows, or Linux device as such. X32 not seen by Mac for DAW. I've been trying everything to have my Mac see x32 compact with no luck (USB only). What I've tried: 1. Updated firmware on X32. Followed set up instructions paging through X32 - Setup Button per youtube instructions, which actually didnt chage any settings. There is an x32 Compact at church that I want to run into my computer as well as the church's computer (not simultaneously). How can I get the sound from the x32 into DAWs like Logic(on my Mac) and StudioOne(one the church PC)? Also, how do I set up the console so that I can control the DAWs through the x32 so as to use the x32 as a control.

It's hard to believe that in my humble garage studio I could do things that a decade or so ago I probably could not have dreamed of doing at any price. The Behringer X 32 mixer is groundbreaking for the home studio owner. Combined with a PC, the free software and an iPad, I can finally spend time making music instead of trying to kluge together a rats nest of pro-sumer gear with unpredictable results. It integrates seamlessly with my DAW (Cakewalk Sonar) and sounds fantastic. Behringer frequently updates and improves the software and firmware, and version 3.0 of X-Mix is better than ever. It's great to sit back on my couch after a recording session and have full control of all the features of my console. The future may have not given us flying cars but I'm happy staying home enjoying the benefits of this technology which costs less than a beat up VW _and_ I get to retire my soldering iron.
One of my best pieces of equipment is my iPad now.
I’m a four-six or so gig a week engineer at my venue, and I use this app every single gig for a magnitude of methods. Mixing the monitor with each musician individually on stage, getting an ear for a different spot in the venue, and it’s a blast for checking a handful of lines in minutes.
A lot of other sound guys come in with the bigger national bands, and they are allowed to mix under my supervision. They’re always thrilled when I mention I’ve got my iPad charged, so they can connect and work with their band while I stay on the console, then I have them switch and I watch their mix on my iPad. It allows me to keep my system under watch while giving the touring engineer space to work. It’s purely amazing to be able to take your board with you in every step of the venue.
I’ve had little to no bugs, despite other reviews (keep in mind everyone’s experience with any Audio setup may vary) and I’ve explored nearly every nook and cranny of this app. Bussing, effects, sends, compression...it’s all a blast with a tablet.
I’d definitely recommend it if you are running an X-32.
Best digital console app on the market
This, along with the M32 Mix app, are the best iPad apps for any digital console on the market. I am an audio professional, and regularly see the X32 and M32 line of consoles in my work. I carry my own routers (Belkin N150, inexpensive, rock solid, great range, and easy to navigate and understand GUI) and in under a minute I am connected to any X32 or M32 the SR company brings in the line. I never have dropouts, the lag is inaudible, and the layout is concise and wisiwyg to the physical desk. Other apps, Yamaha CL, QL et al, Digico, Avid etc., pale in comparison.
Those who have given neg reviews clearly have an operator error, as I have met no professionals who have anything but praise for this app.

I run sound for my trio from on stage and have used my iPad to make minor adjustments to the X32 Rack during the show. The iPad app works great but wanted a hardware MIDI controller for more control and access. The X-Touch Compact seemed like it would be a great solution and would integrate seamlessly. Not! Apparently this was not such a good idea. So far there's no editing software for Mac users like me and an actual Users Manual is non-existent. I'm not closed to the idea of making the X-Touch Compact work with my X32 Rack as I would like but I am very close to returning it. Thanks for any light and/or solutions you can shed on this subject

so this X-Touch Compact is headed back to Guitar Center for a refund.. this was a big mistake on my part thinking it would be a user friendly way for me to control my X32 Rack while onstage.. I had to go through the trouble of installing Boot Camp on my Mac just so I could use a 'PC only' editor to make changes to the X-Touch.. that should have been a warning flag.. and while I made a few changes to the way the X-Touch communicates w/the X32 Rack nothing seemed to work for a simple solution to basics like using a fader to control channel volume or a button to mute the channel..
I love my X32 rack but am very disappointed w/Behringer about this control surface.. I thought it would be a simple solution for controlling their flagship digital mixer.
I assumed that you were simply making a statement and returning the X-Touch. To me, the X32 Rack was designed for software-based control surfaces, not a wired physical surface. I've been using my 2 Racks for the past 4 years and love the freedom of being wireless and no longer tied to the end of a snake. If you need the X32 capabilities with a physical control surface, get the true 'flagship' X32 - the full console.

I answered you in the old thread that you recently posted to “Connect X-Touch Compact and XR12”. I am sorry you couldn’t make this work, as I described in that thread it works fine for me. I think I said in that thread that I use the XTC as a fader expansion wing, to give me more faders at my fingertips. Did you ever contact Michael Lapke about the Mac Beta version of the X-Touch Editor?
The XTC is very capable, the limitation is the X32 (all versions) don’t have much Midi enabled. There is a Mackie emulation mode that gives you more control but I have never used it so I can’t be of any help there. But I think it may be limited as to how many channels it controls. There is also X-Touch over Ethernet but that is for the full sized X-Touch.
unfortunately I wrongly assumed the 2 devices would instantaneously communicate with one another and all my simple control needs would be met.. now it's looking like I'll need to go through all the X32 MIDI documentation and slowly build a bin file that will give me that control via the XTC..

Keeping in mind that the X32Rack has limited Midi capabilities I will be glade to help you as best as I can. Tell me exactly what controls on the XTC you want to do what and I will see if I can configure it that way and send you the Bin file. Also keep in mind that if you want both the A and B layer programed that if you make a change to a fader with your iPad that is on a layer that is not showing when you switch to that layer it will not have your iPad change. Also the rotary knobs can be programmed to be more input and output faders.
If you are thinking of getting the x-live in the future to multitrack your gigs then you definitely need the full x-touch to control that part from a controller.

looking back in retrospect we should have spent the extra money and gotten the X32 Compact.. but at the time we had a $1000 budget.. so there's a slim chance I'll keep the XTC if I can get them to play together nicely.. but the 2nd iPad option is looking more and more likely.

once I've edited some changes into the XTC via the Editor and then saved them to my PC is there anything more I need to do other than to hook the XTC up to the X32?
I believe I've got the X32 configured correctly in Setup for MIDI.. but there seems to be no communication at all between the 2 devices.

The behavior of the XTC and the M32 works fine if you have it connected to each other using Midi cables hooked up to the ins and outs. But if you hook up a computer to the XTC with the USB cable also to set things up in the X-Touch editor it messes up the communication. The XTC receives Midi from the M32 and reacts to it, but even though the Midi out light is lighting on the XTC it doesn’t seem to be sending anything to the M32. As soon as I unplug the USB cable from the computer it goes back to working. The one thing I just noticed that is different is when there is no USB cable hooked up to the computer both the Midi in and out lights light up. But with the USB cable hooked up to the computer only the out light or the in light will light up depending on which device you are manipulating the fader on. This having to keep unplugging the Midi cable as you are trying to setup the XTC in the editor and test to see if it is working the way you want is annoying.
