How To Use Dragon Dictate For Mac Manual 2016

Dragon Dictation is the best speech to text app I've found. It's free and amazingly accurate. Here I'll walk you through the app. Share some tips and commends you can use.

2

The first thing I suggest you do once you open the app. I prefer to have the 'Detect end of speech' turned on. This means when you stop speaking it'll automatically stop listening.

If you want to use Dragon Dictate to control your computer it looks like it could be very powerful but it would take discipline and an investment of your time. You would have to sit down and learn the commands.

3
  • If you're using the Dragon Recorder iOS app, transfer files by connecting your iPhone to your Mac, going to iTunes, clicking on the iPhone in the iTunes source list, and then clicking the Apps tab. Look for Dragon Recorder in the list of apps in the File Sharing section, then click on it. You'll see files listed in the pane to the right.
  • I could really use your support: Review: Dragon Dictate 4.0 for Mac Pricing and Availability: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00IP93PV4.

If you turn the 'Recognize Names' feature on. It'll scan your contact and when you say someones name while dictating it'll have the correct spelling.

4

Also add your social networks. This will allow you to post directly to them without typing.

5

Tap the red button to begin to dictate.

6

When you see this screen begin speaking what you want to turn into text. Speak clearly. You shouldn't be in a loud room and you'll need an Internet connection (wifi, 3G, etc…).

7

If you see this message you either didn't speak clearly or there's to much background noise.

8

You have to speak your punctuation. To make this message I said: 'Hello <comma> how are you today <question mark>

9

It got it right for me as it usually does. But if one of the words is incorrect you can tap it to get suggestions for other words to change it to. Or you can delete it.

10

You can also open the keyboard and fix words manually.

11

Here I used a (new paragraph) command. So I said: '<new paragraph> this is the dragon dictation app <period> it's amazingly accurate <period>'

12

When you're finished tap the menu at the bottom right corner for your options. Copy it to paste in another app. Send with email or SMS. Or post directly to your social networks.

13

Rather than typing out all the commands. I'll just give you some images of them from the dragon dictation site. So open the fallowing set of images to learn them.

14

All commands are in bold text. This means what you read in bold text is what you'd say out loud as you're dictating a message.

Well I hope you found this helpful. I use this quite often and it can really come in handy at times.

Nuance has created a program called Dragon Dictate, which recognizes your personal voice pattern and types as you speak. It's an ingenious program that can speed up your word processing and allows those who cannot physically type a chance to do so. If you ever need to use your Dragon Dictate away from home, you have the ability to do so as long as your remote desktop program supports audio bridging.

Step 1

Connect your microphone to the USB connection on your computer. Test it to make sure it works on the computer you're using. You can find a list of Nuance-approved microphones at the MacSpeech website (see Resources).

Step 2

Open your remote desktop application via the desktop, the 'Start' menu or the 'Applications' menu.

Step 3

Enable your microphone on the remote desktop application. This will be found in your remote desktop options menu. It may be labeled 'Enable audio.'

Step 4

Test your microphone on your current computer as well to ensure the microphone does work. Do this by opening a sound recording program on the computer, speaking and playing back the recording. If the microphone does not work, resolve the issue before continuing.

Step 5

Connect to your other desktop using your remote desktop application. If you can see your other computer's screen on this computer's screen then you have successfully made a connection. Again, test the microphone at this point by opening a sound recording program on the remote desktop, speaking and playing back. This will help you isolate issues if Dragon Dictate does not function properly when you open it.

Step 6

Launch Dragon Dictate on your remote desktop. You can either do so from the 'Applications' menu or the desktop.

Step 7

Open the word processing program you intend to use. Dragon Dictate is compatible will all word processing software so you do not need a specific one.
